Described as the best box from a brand ever, I'm dissecting the August edition of Look Fantastic's beauty box...
The rise of beauty boxes hasn't gone unnoticed in the bloggersphere and yet I've never actually tried one before. I must be mad. Picking one out can be so overwhelming; monthly contracts, surprise products and price points. Look Fantastic stole my beauty box virginity, I'm a mega fan of the incredible brands they stock but their month by month, contract-free purchase of the box had me sold. Brilliantly though (and if you're hooked, I know I'm feeling the beauty box bug) they have 3, 6 or 12 month plans available. Not only do they guarantee a box worth over £45 delivered hassle-free to your door but you save some dollar.
The Eve Lom Cleanser caught my eye instantly, combined with a muslin cloth it's worth £16.50 and pays for the £15 box alone. Becoming a little skincare infatuated recently, the novelty of cleansing my face hasn't worn off yet. Vogue crowned this beauty as the #1 cleanser in the world - what's not to get excited about? Eve Lom is taking skincare back to basics; removing make-up, cleansing and toning, the balm preps your skin for moisturiser. Of course I had to try it out immediately. I'm impressed. My face felt clean, like really clean. Admittedly, I didn't skip toner and serum but I felt thoroughly pampered, like I'd bought the spa home to my bathroom.
Two haircare products are contained in the box, promising 10 in 1 benefits each. The first, Alterna Carviar CC Cream (worth £8.42) smells divine. The leave-in hair perfector sounds mindblowing; adding shine, moisturise, UV protection, anti-breakage and softness to name but a few of its claims. Again, my first impressions are exceptionally positive. It's not often I notice a huge difference in the condition of my hair, with a steady routine I focused the product on my lengths and ends. Dry or damp, the CC Cream hydrated and smoothed my hair. It's a winner.
Beauty Works 10 in 1 Miracle Spray (worth £2.39) is the second haircare product featured. Established as Michelle Keegan's must-have hair essential, I'm looking forward to trying this out - because who doesn't want to have her hair? The spray promises superior styling with ingredients such as argan and macadamia replenishing lost oils. The multi-purpose products are on fire.
Seeing the full size Rimmel Wake Me Up Wonder'full Mascara (worth £7.99) got me a little giddy. I'm all for drugstore mascaras and Rimmel is my go-to brand. Perfect. The wand is hourglass shaped, designed to lift lashes up and out and although I won't be ditching my eyelash curler yet, it does deliver fuller fluttery lashes. A cucumber scent refreshes and cools the lashes - cooling lashes, is that even a thing? I forgot to photograph the mascara - bad beauty blogger - but I'll pop a picture up on my instagram.
A second make-up item; Bellapierre Cosmetics Shimmer Powder (worth £12.99) in an all round universal shade 'Snow Flake'. Loose powders scare me a little, I think mega fall out and super messy. This shimmer looks like it'll deliver as a dramatic highlighter, illuminating the inner corners of your eye.
Hidden at the bottom of the box is the Omorovicza Queen Of Hungary Mist (worth £0.45) which isn't a fragrance. I know, you'd think so. The mist is a rose-scented toner that purifies and hydrates skin. I've tried it. My dry, dehydrated skin likes it. Alcohol-free the toner leaves the face feeling refreshed and there's certainly no drying effect. I only wish I got a little more of the luxurious mist.
