You have conditioned, oiled and masked your hair to manage the effects of heat damage but really, you need to fall back in love with your heat protection...
I am yet to meet someone who doesn't heat style their hair. As women, we blow-dry, straighten and curl our locks to preened perfection yet simultaneously, we are damaging our hair tremendously. I don't know about you, but after the GHD Heat Protect Spray era (along with the Lee Stafford Poker Straight Protection Mist - a must-have for my former teen self) I kind of just forgot about heat protecting sprays. Aside from the occasional drugstore heat protectant, I neglected the pre-heat products and focused on tackling the damage done.
Taking a concious effort to be kind to my hair, I picked up Phyto PhytoKeratine Repairing Thermal Protectant Spray - a bit of a mouthful, but lets break it down. It's designed specifically for dry, damaged and weakened hair. Check, I certainly have that. Thanks straighteners. Boasting an innovative formula, this spray contains Kerato-Filler which repairs the internal structures of the hair, whilst hyaluronic acid works to retain moisture and keep your hair hydrated. Extract of a mushroom, the Yun-Zhi mushroom to be exact, is the hero ingredient as it gives the hair protection on the inside and out.
Lets get real, it's pricey for a heat protecting spray but it's worth being a little spendy in that department. Prevention has to be easier than a cure, right? There's been no ground-breaking immediate results to report but with consistent use my hair is looking healthier. The spray is creamier than your average heat protectant which feels more luxurious and beneficial to me. It's to be used on dry hair which I find a big positive so I can double up each time I reach for the hair tools. Always remember to let the product dry in your hair before styling, ain't nobody got time for frying. Quite happily, I'll repurchase and praise this protective spray for minimizing breakage and allowing me to abuse my straighteners. Plus it smells incredible, like proper salon-worthy.
