Beauty | Under £10: Two Must-Have Foundations

Today I'm chatting foundation, sharing my hero bases that just happen to be affordable and accessible...

As we're set for a heatwave this August (about time right?) I wanted to share my two must-have bases for the summer sun. I wish I could say I'm all about the tinted moisturiser but my skin needs a little more coverage. That's where two of my favourite drugstore foundations take precedence.

L'Oreal Paris True Match Foundation
When the word dupe is spoken, my ears perk up - I like the finer things in life but at a purse friendly price. YES, this is a said to be the dupe of Giorgio Armarni Luminous Silk Foundation. We know a lot of cosmetic brands are owned by the same companies, and are made in the same factories so it's not far fetched to believe the only difference may be the packaging and the price tag. You'll be spoilt for choice when choosing the colour to suit you, L'Oreal takes the crown when offering a large spectrum of shades including yellow, pink and neutral undertones. I wear N6 'Honey' for reference.

I have high hopes when buying foundation, I'm always looking for the one. Let me just tell you, this is the one. It's a super-blendable base that feels weightless on the skin but the best thing - it's a medium to full coverage. My blemishes and skin discolouration disappear beneath it, although I do use concealer to perfect my dark circles and cover nasty spots. True Match promises a natural and complexion-perfecting finish and boy, does it deliver. My dry skin soaks up foundation like there's no tomorrow but after moisturising and priming, this foundation is a silky dream. The wear time is fantastic too, it needs no topping up through-out the day, which is pretty much always the aim with a base. I could seriously champion this product for days, in fact I have on twitter, I recommend it to everyone.

Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation
So, if I've found the one I love, why do I stray? You know you're supposed to change your base with the seasons right? Well that's not really an excuse (although, you actually should) I just adore the glow Wake Me Up enhances my skin with. And a gal can never have too much make-up.

The wake me up effect is something I really need, with my chronic illness keeping me from my beauty sleep, anything that boosts the radiance of my skin is must-have. The 'anti-fatigue' effect is made up of tiny specks of shimmer which isn't as scary as it sounds, to be honest I've not noticed any glitter whilst wearing it. Surprisingly, the texture of the foundation feels more like a gel and it allows for a little more play time than ColorStay so there's no need for speed blending. Unfortunately, Wake Me Up doesn't come in a plethora of shades, with six to choose from I sometimes have to mix mine to suit the colour of my tan. Buyer beware, it's also known to oxidise and dry a little darker so bare that in mind whilst shopping.

The medium coverage evens your skin tone, and fades scarring and blemishes but it can be built up. Unlike the majority, and even with my dry skin, I do lightly powder to prevent excess shine and so I don't have to top up through-out the day. If you're on the lookout for a dewy finish, Wake Me Up is probably the foundation for you. I'm pretty damn sure you've heard, read and seen the goss on this foundation already, it's a staple in almost every beauty bloggers collection. If you don't have it, you need it.
