Beauty | Lipstick Love: Autumn Winter Lip Picks

Statement lips aren't just for summer. Autumn is the season for dark burgundies and deep berries to shine. If you're a lipstick-alholic like myself, you'll be painting your paint at the earliest opportunity...

MAC 'Rebel' has been buried in my stash, waiting to be worn since last year and boy, am I delighted to pick it out again. The ultimate must-have for any beauty lover, the deep fuchsia berry shade suits all skin tones. Part of the Satin range, 'Rebel' is a semi-matte with a subtle sheen. It's intensely pigmented, opaque with only one swipe but versatile as lightly patting it on the lips delivers a lovely lighter coverage. Want vampy but not gothic? Then 'Rebel' is for you.

Taking on a redder tone, Rimmel Lasting Finish Kate Moss '107' is a cult lipstick within the beauty bloggersphere. Taking on a slightly lighter shade on the lip, it's dark enough to make a statement without being too bold. The cool wine shade is a velvety-matte which glides smoothly on to even my dry lips. It's one that'll glam up any every day make-up.

Every woman needs MAC 'Ruby Woo'. A favourite of Gwen Stefani and Rita Ora, it's neutral tone makes it the best all-rounder. Being a Retro Matte formula, it's downfall is drying out the lips and clinging to flaky patches. However, using an exfoliator and a trusty ol' lip balm makes it comfortable and wearable. A big advantage of being a matte means it's incredibly long-lasting. Nothing competes for staying-power through-out eating and drinking than this bad-ass matte.

On the orange side of red, MAC 'Lady Danger' steals the show. This bold colour is warm and does tend to look different on different skin tones. Again, it's a matte finish (can we see a theme?) so a moisturising lip balm before application is almost an must. It's a pick-me-up party shade, perfect for the season ahead.
Despite rain or shine, we all have a nude lipstick that we love. I'm head over heels for Rimmel Lasting Finish Kate Moss '08' right now. It's my favourite kind of neutral colour - brown and rosy which is a far cry away from the shameful concealer-esque pout I used to parade. This timeless lippy is a one sweep wonder with a beautifully sheen finish. That doesn't impact on staying-power as this high-street hue lasts almost 5 hours before needing a top-up.

I couldn't do my favourite lipsticks but my most used liners. There's a few I hold in high regard, the first being Rimmel Lasting Finish 'Cappuccino' which I consistently turn to when pulling off a seventies inspired nude lip. My collection wouldn't be the same without it. Essence Long Lasting 'Plum Cake' is a much welcomed new addition to my stash. I've been reaching for it when wearing a slightly warmer nude lip. The creamy consistency of these budget beauties has not gone unnoticed and I've most recently picked up Essence Long Lasting 'A Girl's Dream'. It's the most lovely dirty pink shade, so much so that I've been rocking it solo.
