On my quest to embrace my pale skin (because hello, I'm Charlotte and I'm a false tan addict) I picked up a new beauty base that would be too good not to use...

Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation (£35) has always been a bit of a blogger hit, it has held it's ground through a rebrand, been crowned awards and it's actually really bloody good. I picked it up around a month ago, stared at myself in the mirror for a few days deciding if I could fault it (spoiler: I can't) and now it's my go to fair skin foundation. I say that but I got matched for it with a little fake tan on, that still counts as improvement from my (not so) former turd stained self, right?

It's a medium to full coverage foundation which builds beautifully, especially using sponge application. The finish is slightly luminous which I think is thanks to it's moisturising properties, compared to it's matte counterpart. And it's most definitely #selfie-ready. It creates a canvas, covering a multitude of imperfections yet still feels comfortable to wear and looks natural(ish).

If I had to pick out one little niggle that I have with it, which is such a non-issue because both the box and the packaging have it written clearly in caps, it would be that you do have to make sure you shake it well - it has a tendency to separate in the tube. But that's just user error. With or without that, it is still a banging base though. For me, the finish and it's super long lasting wear time make it a must-have. It will be going straight in my basket once I'm through this tube.

Have you tried it - isn't it amazing? What beauty bases have you been reaching for recently?
