Twat in a hat - that was the working title for this post because ngl, I did kinda feel like that as I popped this little Primark beaut on my head...

Dress - Very
Hat - Primark
Sunglasses - Primark
Awkward Disposition - Model's Own

Am I a hat person? I don't know, the last time I rocked one was on my Mum's orders when I was about 7 because I was playing out in the sun. God, don't you just miss those days? Sun, sandpits, ice lollies, climbing trees, grazing ya knees, getting stung by bees, finding doc leaves. (Sorry, I'm listening to Eminem).

The dress, probably the reason you've come here (which thank you btw), is a typically S/S dress with a little ruffle twist at the waist. It fits pretty perfectly and hits slightly above knee length. Sizing wise, it has a few mixed reviews about being a little on the small side but I'm in between sizes and opted for the bigger one with no problems. I've managed to wear the dress a couple of times now, yay to the occasional sunny spring day, and found it washes absolutely fine. It's cute, casual, and is a pretty addition to my summer wardrobe.

A lil off topic, but go with me - I've been thinking about the Fashion Blogger™ community lately and how it's grown from ootd's against a bedroom wall or a snap in a (usually dirty) mirror, to modeling specific looks for the purpose of a shot, sneakily changing outfits in some swanky Chelsea street to stage a photo on the steps of a stranger's picture perfect home, with a professional photographer you're paying by the hour. And it's different. It's not happened overnight, and watching the success of those who work their butts off fills me with joy. It's just, I'm not that. Not everyone is and that's okay.

I think looking in on fashion blogging as an outsider, it's pretty intimidating, especially if it's a market you want to get involved with. Polished, posed and professional has become synonymous with successful but that's not always the case. Some of my most influential and inspirational Instagram accounts are those who snap iPhone selfies of what they're actually wearing that day. It feels real and authentic, which in a world of Instagram models can be rare. This ain't no shade either, because I'M CHEERING FOR YOU, I say this because I feel like I'm making peace with the way I document my ootds. I'm more your friendly neighbourhood plus blogger than fashion manequin, and if that makes me a little grassroots and old skool then so be it.
